The First Christmas Come here little children Gather ‘round my knee I will tell you the story Of how Christmas came to be. Many years ago, In a land far away The Christ Child was born To show us the way. Born in a manger Where animals lay He spent his first night In a bed made of hay. Shepherds in fields heard The first Christmas song, As Angels appeared and sang “Christ has been born” Up in the sky There shone a bright star Guiding three Wise Men Who came from afar. Bearing fine gifts Heads bowed in awe As there for the first time The Savior they saw. How they rejoiced, For the world had grown weary Of sin and confusion, Life had seemed dreary. Behold! As the Prophets Of old had proclaimed, The King was born! “Praise to God” they exclaimed. Gazing upon him His Mother felt Joy The World would be saved By this precious boy. So on this Christmas When the songs have been sung, And the gifts have been opened, And the bells have been rung Pause, for a moment, Remember to say, Thank you Lord Jesus and Happy Birthday.©Sharon Langan April 24, 2001 |
