A Chat with Daddy

Well Daddy ... you were no Angel
But .. my Halo is tarnished too.
A bit rough around the edges
Was the bond 'twixt me and you.

It wasn't until you were gone
I finally understood
You didn't know how to express your love
But ... you did the best you could.

Thinking back now I remember..
Awkward bear hugs... a kiss on the cheek ...
You singing The Old Rugged Cross ...
In a voice so strong and deep.

Sorting through the memories...
You know.. They weren't all bad...
I hope you feel my love and know...
I'm glad you were my Dad.
